Handmade fonts – unique, nontraditional fonts

These fonts are made by an Estonian design studio that specializes in creating interesting font solutions fueled by the inspiration that is within all of us. This duo of designers, Vladimir and Maksim Loginov, manages to present fonts in a new light.

Every font that this font factory produces is made in accordance with all of the current standards and can be used in all print applications, as well as in motion design, seeing that each of their collections offers animated fonts suitable for users that are dealing with video editing software such as: Adobe After Effect, Final Cut Pro, Sony Vegas etc

CA Collection Typeface

Sawdust is an award winning partnership of two independent graphic designers Rob Gonzalez and Jonathan Quainton with the headquarters in London, UK.

Their specific disciplines include identity creation, illustrations and design in the areas of music, art, culture, fashion, corporate visuals and advertising. This approach and their work on visually remarkable projects made them well known all over the world.

The thing that I would specifically like to mention is their CA Collection typeface, a truly modern and special typeface designed exclusively for Computer Arts Collection. The whole process of the making of this typeface is recorded on 48 pages of descriptive text, and its application on a music album is pure fiction intended to show one of the ways in which this typeface can be used.

The Kabel Typeface

This great typeface comes from Germany and was made by a graphic designer and art director Mathias Nösel. Typeface of this quality can find many uses, as you will see from the images bellow. It is really extremely modern and universally applicable, it can be used both in vector and 3D graphics where its characteristics really get to shine. This typeface is free for commercial use.

Accent typeface – extremely stylish and sleek

Extremely stylish and sleek with unique widening at the joints and curves that make this typeface look a bit more technical. Accent is a highly modern typeface that could easily be used in a number of different applications, CD covers, magazines or posters. Really, the possibilities are endless with a typeface this interesting and well made. The images bellow show it in black and white, so you can be sure that it would also look great in color. It was made by Nelson Balaban, a young Brazilian designer and art director whose excellent work can be found on his Behance profile:  http://www.behance.net/nelsonbalaban.

Typedepot – the art of typeface making

This little Bulgarian typeface design studio, currently Sophia based, has made some truly amazing fonts, as you can see on their website http://www.typedepot.com. I loved their fonts, and I would like to mention some of them specially. First I would like to mention Pista Font, a unique, decorative typeface that you can use for all areas of web design – posters, brochures and motion design. It comes in six sizes regular, bold, outline, rounded, rounded bold and rounded outline and you need somewhere around $55 to buy it, but it is more than worth the money. The other typeface I liked is OXO – an excellent display typeface, the geometry of which really leaves a good impression. This studio made an entire font family that contains thin, light, regular and bold, their matching italics also Outline, College and Deco. The price for this typeface is 164 Euros.
